Here’s a list of suggestion (thanks to Mark) but please feel free to add your own. We’ll give it a couple of weeks to get some ideas in and then have a collective vote. Also lets use this page to discuss any other ideas we may have for the show and to help get things organised.

If you’re in the area, try and pop in to see Kerim Aytac and Kate Keara Pelen’s exhibition ‘Terrain’ in Kensal Rise, in the small shop on the bridge to the Overground station (what used to be the flower shop). Well worth a visit. Be quick – only on until Sunday 5th July.

QP LIP Annual Exhibition Space

April 27, 2009

In light of the limited gallery space and large amount of members wishing to exhibit, we need to think about how to divide up wall space. There were two main views at the meeting – the first was that each exhibitor would be allocated a wall space and then it would be up to them whether they produced one large work or several smaller ones, and the other was that all images should be a standard size. Please comment…

QP LIP Annual Exhibition Title

We need a title for the show. There have been several suggestions including ‘Persistence of Vision’, Moving Pictures’ and ‘Moving Images’. Any other suggestions? Please comment…

QP LIP Annual Exhibition 2009

April 27, 2009

Our 2009 annual exhibition will take place from Sunday 6 September through to Saturday 19 September at the Gallery in Willesden Green (see here for details of the Gallery). It was agreed that the theme for the show will be centred on cinema and the movies. This can be widely interpreted – so you may want to think of a favourite film and produce work that reflects this, or your work may be about the cinematic process, or any other aspect that appeals to you. In particular we want to encourage participants to go out (or in if in a studio!) and produce new work – so it could be a bit of a challenge!

It was also decided that we would allow a maximum of 14 people to exhibit (due to space considerations). So, if you want to be in then you must let Tony Wallis – who will act as our treasurer – know (twallis1@btinternet.com) via email AND send him a cheque for £40 by way of a deposit (we will need to pay for the Gallery by the end of May – £350 – and also require some money to start producing publicity and allied stuff). Tony’s address is 21 Wrentham Avenue, London NW10 3HS. Only people who make the deposit will be considered and it will be the first 14!

QP LIP Annual Exhibition 2009

April 1, 2009

I have booked the Gallery at the Willesden Green Library Centre from Sunday 6 September to Saturday 20 September. I know not everyone will be entirely happy with this but no other viable and affordable alternatives have materialised. The upside is that there is a good chance that the Gallery will also be hosting parts of the Portobello Film Festival at the same time and this should increase and broaden the number of visitors to the Gallery during this period. The cost of exhibiting will depend on how many people want to participate but the gallery will cost £350 for the two weeks. So if 10 people exhibit it will be £35 each (but remember there will be other costs too to cover publicity, opening evening and other miscellaneous sundries). Realistically we can probably accommodate no more than 12-15 people so please let me know if you are interested and I will collect an initial holding deposit from you at the April meeting.

Now we have a space and a date we need to decide on a theme (if any). It has already been suggested that we could choose a different poem, story or a film each and produce work that reflects or is inspired by this choice.
